A walk in the Park.

It's Bank Holiday Monday here in the UK. I hate Bank Holidays. My dh is never here and I am left with both kiddies with nothing open. So it was quite nice weather. Little bit of sunshine and a coolish breeze - just my sort of weather so I took them for a walk round the park. Here are some pics.

We sniffed the flowers.

It would have been wonderful if I had not got slightly upset by seeing "couples" with their children. I so hate feeling like a single parent. DS was great though most of the time as he walked next to the pushchair and didn't run off - well not as much as he usually does. This is progress.

Here's my granny stripe blankie as it is now. Not yet finished but not far to go.

Just waiting for some cellophane bags from ebay then I will be able to parcel up my little giveaways - yes - giveawayS. There will be two prizes so stay tuned.

Right, husband has returned home from his travels and we're off out for a drive. Back soon. xxxxx
Oh and nearly forgot that Maggie from Black Country Wench sent me a gorgeous runner up prize from her giveaway. It was an Alison Weir book as you can see on the right and also an All Dolled Up chart from my wishlist. Thank you soooo much Maggie. Loved it and I'm loving the book. x

we don't know any Bank Holidays. What is the meaning of those Holidays?

Everything looks so green and verdant! Over here in my area its been so blasted hot and dry that it looks like the inside of a very old dried out barn! :)
Have a lovely drive and thank you for sharing your lovely walk through the park!

Looks like it was a great walk with the kids! Sorry you feel the lack of your husband on those holidays. I know the feeling. My husband used to not get those Monday holidays off as well.

What a lovely park you have! I think your favorite spot would most likely be mine as well!

I know the feeling of seeing other couples with their kids, as I have been in that situation myself. But, we always make the best of it and have lots of stories to share with dad when he comes home.

Your blanket looks great!

I know what you mean about Bank Holidays, I dislike them as well - everything shuts down for the day, it's real nuisance (even up here in Scotland). I stumbled upon your blog for the first time today - lovely mix.

I'm not a great fan of Bank Holiday's either, except for the extra day we get off work of course;-) at least the rain has stayed off!

I'm with you on Bank Holidays, here we call them Public Holiday and my DH is always on duty for them, Easter, Christmas you name it. It does get you down sometimes but then there are other times when he's home and we can enjoy everything being open.
Enjoy your days anyway, one day the children can take you out : ))

Everything looks so beautiful! I really like your blanket. I sometimes feel like a single parent. My husband travels a lot now that we've moved to Texas.

Lovely walk Hazel! I want a Bank Holiday too! =( I suppose I shouldn't complain as we have a holiday next week. I'm sorry that seeing all the couples with kids make you sad. I get sad for other reasons. Too bad we don't live close. I'm sure we can cheer each other up...I'll take a scone with cream and jam from last week please! That would cheer me right up!lol

Love your stripey crochet blankie. One day...I will make one. :)

I love Bank Holidays (here we call them federal holidays) because I work for a bank and get a paid day off. Only government offices and banks shut down here for most of them. My husband has most of them off now too. Now that my kids are older I miss being able to spend those days with them.

You had a beautiful walk though!

Look like you and your children had a fabulous time, the park looks like a lovely spot to spend some time. Your granny stripe blanket is looking wonderful, it is huge. When it is finished could you please let us know what it's measurements are?

It is beautiful where you live!
Your blanket is gorgeous, and you have inspired me..I have purchased some wool..but I hope I have talent enough to do the stripes. We shall see!

We have a park near us also, I will have to take pictures..

My husband travels too at times. Part of his job. It does get lonely at times, I understand.

Have a wonderful day Hazel!

Thank you for sharing your lovely walk with us, Hazel--I do enjoy seeing other countries and where people live...

Your blanket looks so pretty and colorful draped across the bed! I'm sure you'll have it finished in no time :)

I love your favorite spot in the park. Looks like a good place to sit and stitch for a while. I think you might need a loaf of bread for that amount of geese...lol. And they are looking at the camera like they are hungry.

I love your granny stripe afghan!!! It is chilly here and I put on long sleeves but think I need a sweater so I would love to wrap up in an afghan like that. Still plugging away at my dishcloth.

Now I want to visit you again and have one of those beautiful scones and a cup of tea you showed on the last post that I missed! I like extra strong English breakfast tea with milk please. :-)

Hugs from Holland ~
Heidi

So fun! Your walk in the park looks lovely.
Weather is cooler there already? Fall is in the air here too. I do hate it when it starts to get cool!
Your granny stripe is wonderful!

Which park is that Hazel, Looks lovely. My Hubby was home but had to revise for an exam he has, so I spent the day volunteering as My boys are not into walks especially the teenager, and my DD is in the Isle of Wight with her Aunty. so I had to get out in that sun somehow!

Love that Blankie!

Here in the US we don't have anything called a Bank Holiday but if all the shops are closed.....it is no fun having a holiday! I have signed on as a Follower and I really enjoyed watching your walk through the park. Since I am in a wheelchair I walked with you by computer and really enjoyed it. Take care.

Looks like a nice quiet day Hazel and such a pretty neighborhood you are in. I'm glad you got to have some "alone" time just for you in your previous post. Your scones look much better than what passes for scones here in my work cafeteria. Yours look more like what we would call biscuits. Anyway, they looked delicious! Your inspiration for decorating is also very fun and cheerful.

It sounds like a lovely day! My husband usually works 6 days a week so I know how you feel about feeling like a single parent. It was always me and the kids together. It was a small price to pay for me being able to stay home with the kids, but still hard. Your afghan looks great!
