Winter Whites finish and Pride and Prejudice update.

So at last I have a stitchy post! I finished Winter Whites by Little House Needleworks about a week or so ago but just haven't got round to ironing and taking pics of the piece. So here it is at last. I am really pleased with how it has turned out. The fabric is Star Sapphire wichelt 32ct and I was worried about how the lettering would look on it so I decided to use DMC 800 for the actual words in between the letters. I also used Crescent Colours Wild Oats instead of the called for Oatmeal.

Finished feb 11

I have also been beavering away on The Sampler Girl's Pride and Prejudice and I am really enjoying it although I have made one or two mistakes on it. Shhhhhhh... I'm not telling and you won't notice ;-). This has been an SAL on NH headed up by Barb who has been graciously giving me reminders each week!! Such pretty colours in this one. I am using DMC. I thought it was kind of apt after my visit to "Pemberley"! Also they have been showing Mansfield Park on tv so I have been in an Austen mood.

March update

Here is also a small update of Fragile Heart. I haven't been working on her much but the second page of the SAL is out now so I need to get cracking on her. I must say, I love how the pink kind of POPs out on the black lines:

Feb progress

Can I just say a big thank you to everyone who gave me a comment on my last post. I had some lovely ones and some really unmerited praise for my photography! Thank you so much. I don't rate my pictures very well at all. In fact I am very critical about it but I do my best and just hope they turn out. Hope you all have a lovely stitchy/crochety week.
ps. I am making a booklist of interesting things I should read. If you have any good reads then let me know. Ta.

I love your Winter Whites! So pretty! Love the P&P piece too! I don't know how you do pieces like Fragile Heart. Amazing!

What a delightful finish, Hazel! And your P&P piece looks wonderful, too. No one will ever spot your cover-ups. I had to do that in a huge way on my latest ornament finish :)

You are too modest about your photographs from your last post--they really are wonderful--at least from this amateur's eyes!

Hazel, I have made Winter Whites during the Christmas Holiday. It was fun to stitch this pattern. I like the colour you use for the words.
Have a nice weekend, Riet.

Beautiful winter whites.
So many good books read over the years but, and I'm sure you will have read this, Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier remains an all time favourite.
I have recently read several by Anita Shreve, all excellent but "Sea Glass" is one that stood out for me, the sort of novel that stays with you long after you have closed the cover.
Oh and the Earth's Children series by Jean M. Auel was fantastic........ the more I think, the more books I come up with........ Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett (the only book of his I enjoyed)is outstanding too and you are obviously a Jane Austen fan (hated Pride and Prejudice at school but appreciated it as a "grown up").

What a great finish! I like the changes you made. It turned out perfectly.
I've missed so many posts from you. Just want you to know I've been reading them all today, and enjoying each one. I couldn't agree more with your comment about it's hard to spend quality time with DH. It does take a lot of effort to keep the spark there! It's worth it though.
Love the tour of Lyme Hall. You do take great pictures! You are lucky to be able to see such fabulous places whenever you feel like it!
Also, Just love your SAL. What a great design. Keep it up!

Wonderful finish, Hazel! Love the WIPs, too. Mistakes are just personalizations--you must look at it that way! ;)
