Quickie trip to London

Had a bit of a spurr of the moment trip to London this weekend. Now, after my last trip to London - a complete and utter nightmare with someone who shall remain nameless and who I will not be in contact with again!!! - I vowed I would never return. However, husband had some business to do down there and thought, seeing as it was the half term holidays, that we could all tag along too. Ooohhhh okay then!

I knew time would be short so I planned a couple of shops to visit and I knew it meant a nice meal out as well. However.. about an hour from London, husband's phone died! So we spent most of the time yesterday in o2 and the Apple shop wherein he got an upgrade and an even better phone than he had - bonus!

So with what little time we had left and freezing my butt off....

We ate in Maxwells who brought the little darlings puddings rather late so they knocked some off the bill - another bonus!

Me and sweet girl enjoying our meal.

Beautiful food there actually. I had BBQ Chicken Chop salad which was lurvely. Oh and I had a cocktail too! How exciting is that!! That was last night.

We breakfasted in a little cafe this morning with was lovely and I was very tempted to get one of the gorgeous cakes but I didn't.

We visited Liberty

Love this building. It is the oldest shop in London apparently. Prices are shocking. This cushion was £175 I think.

IMG_0808

This bar of Lavender Chocolate was £5.25. But I bought it anyway ;-)

IMG_0806

The Christmas dept was simply gorgeous! I could have stayed there all day. Ooooooh I do love Christmas. I do, I do! So many twinkling lights.

IMG_0807

I love the collection of fabrics. Autumn is definitely my thing at the moment!

IMG_0812

and this gorgeous hoop display... oh now there's an idea..

IMG_0811

We visited Hamley's. I was too excited by all the daft gadgets and toys to take many pictures in here and time was running very short..

IMG_0813

We visited All the Fun o' the Fair in Carnaby St but it was shut!!!!! Dangnabbit. Maybe we got there too early?? Anyway, here's a misty window shot.

IMG_0810

After a long, freezing morning we had to check out of the hotel and go to Cockfosters and get the car and drive home again. I am happy to be home even though my feet are still as blue as they look! I really need some fuzzy slippers to keep them warm.

IMG_0814

Oh and do you want to see how my throw is coming along???

Are you sure???

Well, I'm not there yet but I did promise a sneak peak.....

Sooooo....

Here you go...

IMG_0815

I love it! It has such warming, autumnal colours in it. Really need to get going with this before all the leaves fall off the trees!

On Friday I will be visiting The Nimble Thimble nr Oswestry in Shropshire. I have wanted to go for such a long time. I don't have much cash this month but hope to gather enough to have a little spend. For those who don't know.. this is a beautiful stitching shop which tends to stock in lots of American style folksy type of charts and things. I am going with my lovely friend who has just learnt to crochet so it should be a great day out. I promise to take lots of pics!

Thanks for visiting me. I am trying to catch up on everyone's news. I'll be round your way shortly. xxxxxxx

Not bad for a spur of the moment trip! Sometimes that's the best way to do things. Now I'm hungry for some good chocolate, but that won't be happening here soon. Oh, well! Your afghan is coming along well, and in such lovely colors - keep up the great work!

Ooh, how exciting. There are always trials and tribulations on a trip anywhere...and then there is travelling with the kids. You did extremely well for something this unplanned and it looked wonderful. How lucky are you? Well, quite lucky actually as you won a little frame over on my blog!!...and the blanket looks fabulous too...it's all good.

I just learned how to do granny squares and am doing a blue blanket. Same pattern you are doing but a smaller needle because I like the tighter look. I'll have pictures on my blog by the weekend. I love your colours it reminds me of the one my gram made for me

Gorgeous, gorgeous pictures! I've never visited London but it's a place I've been wanting to visit, even more so now after seeing your pictures. Love the fabric and hoops collection :) Beautiful colours. Same goes for your throw, so bright and cozy.

Your daughter looks so much like you! She's adorable, and you're not bad yourself. :D Thanks so much for the pics of your trip to London! It's about the only way I'm going to see it at least for the foreseeable future. I loved seeing everything! Is Liberty the same Liberty that makes the fabrics? Nice shop! And your throw! OMG, what beautiful colors you've chosen for it! Just gorgeous! Glad you had fun in London -- now warm up those tootsies! :D

London is fab, so glad you enjoyed it. Liberty is my favourite shop, I did have some model work hung there once.

I haven't done any more crochet, but I will :)

Sounds like magic to me, but that can be caused by the fact I'm from the Netherlands. Paris and London sound both so magical...

Love your granny squares blanket so far.

I used to love mooching around Liberty's when I lived in London. Couldn't afford to buy anything there mind you!
Your autumn throw is absolutely stunning!

How exciting! I haven't been to London for ages, it's somewhere we plan to visit in a few years when the children are a little older and will appreciate and enjoy it more, so it was nice to have a little visit there though your photos. Have you eaten the chocolate yet, definitely need to savour it for that price!

PS Your through is lovely, gorgeous colours.

Thanks for sharing your London visit with us, Hazel--looks like there are so many great places to visit... Someday...sigh!!

Am still in shock over the cost of the pillow--that would be over $270 U.S. dollars--unbelievable!! Perhaps you should start marketing some of your pretty creations :)

Your afghan looks lovely!

Enjoy The Nimble Thimble. What I wouldn't give to be able to go there again. We went years ago when we had a few days in Wales. I was in 7th heaven!

Thank you for taking me to London with you! I was supposed to go this week myself, but because of not so nice stuff in my family I couldn't. That was really a disappointment because I just love London.
For such a short visit you certainly did a lot.
I like your throw. The colours look amazing.

groetjes, Dorien

Hi I'm new to your blog having discovered it the other week and I have been working my way through your archives. I love your stitching so much it is beautiful. I have been a cross stitcher since I was little but haven't picked up my needle since I was pregnant with my son (and he'll be 2 in december!) your pieces have really inspired me to pick up my needle again and finish off his birth sampler and a few other pieces (as well as enhance my stash with some new pieces to do). I am also a knitter and crocheter - I found your blog through I love lucy on ravelry and I must say your blankets are quite stunning. I'm wondering if you would share the yarn and colours you used for your daughters ripple it is so gorgeous. Anyway just wanted to stop by and say how much I love your blog and work, my name is PiperH on rav so may see you over there x Best wishes Jenni

Quickly trip and London don't go together for me, but I sure wish they did. I was there a few years back and could have spent the entire day at LIBERTY. It's a favorite and classic store. So glad you shared your trip with us.

Now, about that grannie blankie. Love, aDORe and envy those yummie fall colors you picked. Can't wait to see it all finished.
