Sad and Tragic Day

Sometimes you wonder what is really going on. Yesterday we had yet another tragedy in our family. Our beautiful rescue cat, April was tragically knocked down and killed instantly. We were on our way back from somewhere when we got the phone call from our neighbours telling us what had happened. The person who did it drove off and it was another member of the public who started to knock on people's doors to see who she belonged to.

We were only a few minutes away and she was laying on the pavement in a right state but dead. She was still warm. It must have literally only just happened. We carried her inside then out to the back garden where we buried her . She was still warm when we buried her. Absolutely heartbreaking as I loved that girl sooooo much. She used to follow me everywhere.

Here are some happy memories.

First photos taken from the rescue home we got her from.

First snaps at home..

She loved watching cat tv..

She liked to stretch...

And snuggle...

She was the friendliest cat ever!!

She liked the birds..

And she sometimes got stuck on the roof!

This was the last snap I got of her, in ds' bed.

I'm so sad and my heart is breaking. Her little friend from down the street keeps sniffing at the blood where she lay and looking around for her.

Sorry this is a sad post and is so picture heavy but I needed to do it.

April
Rescued December 2013
Passed away 11th July 2015
Love you forever.

She looks like such a sweet and beautiful girl! Her paws and eyes are both so pretty with her marmalade fur. Looks like you all really loved living together and enjoyed happy, peaceful times. You are lucky to have found each other and shared love. :) sending hugs your way.

Aww, she was such a pretty cat. What a pity her life was so short. But it was obviously a good life with you and your family.

Hazel, I am so sorry to hear about your sweet kitty. She looks like she was a right character and that look in her eyes with the bird in her mouth, like "Sorry. I couldn't help myself!" She does remind me of our Marmalade, same colouring, who passed a long time ago.

It's awful how the driver sped away!

Sending you big hugs!

So sorry for your loss. It is against the law to hit and run a dog but not a cat. Any decent person would have stopped though.

You have some lovely photos to keep the memories alive.

Ahh, so sorry for your loss. You have so many pictures. She was beautiful. Years ago someone hit my dog and kept going, he passed away to. They are over the rainbow bridge.

Hazel, so very sorry that your cat passed away in such a tragic and sudden way. It is always so difficult when we lose our pets. I lost a dog about six weeks ago, so I can relate. The pictures are great! And you did a very good thing rescuing her. You gave her a good life for two years.

Oh Hazel, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's always a hard time when a pet passes away. April was a beautiful kitty, and it's so rare to have a female orange tabby too! My Greysen passed almost 2 years ago, and just this month was the first time I've been able to bring myself to get another cat. I feel your pain, and send you virtual hugs, and hope you find some new furbaby to share your heart soon!
