Sorry I couldn't resist taking a snap of this heart in my coffee today. I see loads of blog posts dedicated to finding hearts in everything but I never seem to so when I saw this I just had to snap it.
See....
Yes I guess you have to look closely to see it! This was my lovely latte - a weekly treat from Libby's which you can read all about here. This time, served up with this little beauty!
Now to be fair, I did not eat all of it by myself - way too much - so I shared it with my other half. We have made it a weekly treat to go to this little cafe? Bistro? Bakery? I'm not sure what you would call it. However, this week, we have the Littlies off school so we thought we would take them too and see if they liked it. They both had huge slabs of Rocky Road and ate every last morsel.
I thought I would do a quick update on my blanket situation. I have made all the squares for my willow blanket and here is how they look. I was thinking of joining them like this - kind of winding the colours together snake like back and forward but now I am not sure and think maybe I should just go random?
I began to join them using the continuous flat braid join which looks fantastic but I ran out of yarn on the second row! Grrrrrrrrrr so I might unravel, buy more yarn and then try a random style. What do you think??? I really love them. Such pretty squares. I really enjoyed making every one of them. I thin it will make a nice sized blanket once I have joined them and done a border around. Yes I will have to think of the prettiest border for this.
I also thought I would send you a quick update of the Elmer blanket I am in the process of making. This seems to have been going on since forever as I have left it and picked it up and left it and picked it up etc...
Rather rubbish pic of it but you get the gist of it right? I think I could be ready or almost ready to do the border on this one as I am plain getting bored of it. I don't think it's going to make double bed size and so may be relegated to the couch or the kids' beds. Not decided yet. I promise to take much better pics once it is complete.
So that's me for now. I will update soon on the Elizabeth Lillie sampler as she is coming along nicely too.
Thanks for reading today.

mmm....cake, lol. Loving the updates hun your willow blanket is looking fab, I quite like the way you arranged the colours in the pic I actually think it works like that. Cannot wait to see the finished Elmer blanket !!!!
Love the way you have arranged your squares. Leave it that way and join with the white/cream so you sort of have a rainbow effect happening without the distraction of another colour interfering.
I could do with a bit of that cake too !!
No matter what you do, that blanket will be beautiful... absolutely beautiful. And, thanks, now I want cake.
Both blankies are spectacular! Can't wait to see them finished! Looking forward to seeing your sampler progress pics, too.
No, for you Willow blanket, the way you had them laid out is soothing to the eye. Random may not have the same effect. You can always lay them out randomly, take a picture and see what you like best.
I love both blankets! So pretty! The colors on both are just exquisite! I'm not sure what I would do with your willow blanket. I like the non-random, but random might look nice too. I have to say I want some of that cake you had. lol!
Awwww I love hearts in coffee. I usually ask for wet so don't get foam but when I do I always end up absent mindedly making a heart :)
I love the squares for your blanket and even more so as the colours blend. There are so many random blankets that it is nice to see them lined up like that.
Elmer blanket is awesome. I made a small one for my small one a few years ago and it is so cool to see them popping up everywhere. Your little ones must LOVE it :)
Now that you have photos of your beautiful blanket squares, now try placing them randomly. Then see which layout you prefer. Either way your blanket is already gorgeous. Pretty heart in your latte, yep I could see it. The cake looks so good. love Annette
Looks like a lovely cafe break.
The willow blanket is going to be so lovely!
Oh Hazel, this cake looks so delicious and it has eveyrthing I love with cakes - walnuts, marzipan and dark dough. I'm not sure if I could share this delicious cake with my other half, lol.
Wonderful, your granny squares and how you arranged them. All these great colours row after row, I really like that. You really have an eye for colours. And I'll keep that in mind because I'm thinking about my first granny squares at the moment.
ooh, i LOVE the colours on the willow blanket. they're perfect!
yep, you should finish the elmer blankie off, i alwayd find that getting started on the border re-invigorates me because you're so close to the finish line ;)
I think Annette has a great idea for you Hazel. I personally prefer random. You do gorgeous work. And good for you all getting a treat!
The blanket would surely turn out gorgeous!
