Park picnics

I have been moping around the last couple of days feeling very poorly and very sorry for myself. You know how it starts with a bit of a sore throat and you think, "Ack!" and then it suddenly turns into something so very nasty that knocks you off your feet literally for the next few days? It has gone from a bug like flu with nausea and tummy ache and shivers and aches to a full on head cold. However, trying to stay positive I thought I would post about our recent pinic in Lyme Hall last Sunday. Do you remember my post not so long ago about the same place where the snowdrops were budding? I thought it would be nice to show you what it looks like in the heart of spring. We got there around 10.30- 11.00ish - a good time to go as it gets really busy after then. Found this lovely spot by the lake:

and settled down on the Ugly blanket which proved to be a great picnic blanket as it is massive and so there was no teetering on the corners on those small roll up blankets people use. I would have been using mine but I lost it in typical ME fashion and was kind of forced into using theUgly blanket.

Nothing posh. Just what we had in the house. Butties, pringles, fruit and juice and some chocolate mini rolls. There's nothing like eating outdoors is there? Then into the house and the gardens and here are some snaps of how the garden is looking now: Hyacinths everywhere and the smell so fragrant.

And these were taken in the arbetorium:

So colourful. I can't wait for summer. I have been doing some crochet too and finished off Clare's scarf and she now has it and loves it thankfully. Cream centres this time with more pinks and purple shades:

Also had a go at Julia Crossland's Popcorn Flower:

Really like this and will be making more shortly.

Hi Hazel,

Hope you're feeling better. It seemed like you had a lovely time at the picnic with your family. And you have been busy with the hooks, too! I love the scarf's colors! Can't wait to see what you're going to do next!

Have a relaxing weekend :)

I loved seeing your picnic in Lyme Park. I used to go there years ago when I lived in Manchester. I hope your horrible virus has gone now - there are lots of these sore throat ones about at the moment and they do make you feel so poorly. Your crochet looks beautiful. Hope you have a good weekend.

Hope you feel better very soon Hazel, it sounds very similar to the bug I had and it took be quite a while to get over it so take care of yourself.
Love your pics of Lyme Park - haven't been there in ages and it looks so beautiful. Wonder if I can find time for a visit over Easter?

OK, that's it! I'm moving to the U.K. What gorgeous, gorgeous flower photos, Hazel. All we have are a couple of daffodils blooming here so far this spring...

Lovely crocheted pieces, too--the scarf colors are perfect.

Hope you feel better very soon. That is the thing when you have young children, you are constantly picking up their germs. Wait till you're old like me and you'll rarely get sick :)

What a wonderful place to go have a picnic! I wish I could go with you and sit on that NOT ugly blanket. Loving all your crochet flowers. I have not touched my hook in two weeks. We are redoing the garden now at our new house and it is hard work that sent me into major FM attacks...sigh. I will be taking it with me to Cranberry Cottage though to enjoy sitting in the garden while crocheting.

Enjoy your Easter weekend! Early wishes in case I do not get a chance before then...

Hugs from Holland ~
Heidi
