Happy Easter all. I hope you are out or enjoying the nice weather we have been having in the UK. DH is home so we have been trying to spend some time together as a family.
On Good Friday we decided to head out to Skipton. I haven't been in years and it was so lovely albeit extremely busy. I think we will go again on a quieter day. I think it might be nice to stay there for a night too. Very pretty. Unfortunately I forgot my camera so had to rely on hubby's phone cam. Here are some pics:
We went up to the castle first. One of the prettiest castles I have ever been in.

The canal walk was gorgeous. I love all the pretty barges. They are so colourful. I long to go on a barge holiday at some point in my life.

And on the drive out, we came across this little field of beautiful poppies:

We did go round the shops; the market was on but dh didn't take any snaps there. There was a fab wool shop called Purl and Jane which specialised in all sorts of hand dyed wools. I didn't buy anything this time but definitely will do next time I visit. Hope you enjoyed my little trip. It didn't end so well actually as we headed out toward Bolton Abbey but hadn't left enough time for it and so we stopped off for a drink and dd tripped on some cobbles and chipped her tooth! Apart from that all was well and we had a lovely day.

Just a quick stitchy update. I have finished Clare's RR piece:

This was so quick to do. I loved it.
And also here is my small start on Sampler Au Bouquets by Jardin de Prive:

I am stitching this on Vintage Mocha and I love it! Thank you Leena for the inspiration.
Hello to all my new followers and visitors - there seems to have been a bit of a surge!! I am quite amazed actually so thank you very much and hope you enjoy your visit with me.

Gorgeous photographs, Hazel, even though it wasn't a camera! Busy? Doesn't look it, lol! Easter Blessings to you all.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Hazel, glad you had a nice time! Those poppies are glorious!
ReplyDeleteLove your start on the Jardin Prive design, V. Mocha is a great fabric choice with those thread colours.
Glorious, what a treat. With children there usually are some mishaps...so the chipped tooth will be associated with the trip to Skipton forever more. Building great memories.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you Hazel. Lovely pics, looks like a relaxing and simply wonderful outing. So thoughtful of you to share, especially since we Americans have very few castles to admire:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of your day! Cute stitches!
ReplyDeleteHope DD is ok after her fall.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Skipton, it looks lovely, must make the effort.
Really love your new stitching.

I love all your pics of the castle! Beautiful place! Love your finish, and your new WIP is nice too! Hope you get back to that yarn shop for some wool -- sounds nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the pictures of the castle! So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove your stitchy updates!
Happy Easter!
Hi Hazel, I am a new follower. I found your blog via a 'stitchy' connection. Thanks for stealing your DHs phone to take some shots of your trip to share with us. I personally can't tell they are from a phone, they look pretty good to me. I love seeing the castle and grounds - not a lot of castles over here in Oz either.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your stitchy updates too, have been seeing the lovely Jardin de Prive design quite a bit. There is a 'Sampler aux Bouquets SAL' (I am doing my best to resist)
Happy and blessed Easter to you and your family too

Looks like you had a lovely day, even if dd did chip a tooth there at the end. Great pictures! Love the new WIP!

ReplyDeleteLovely pictures, and thank you for this tour! One of the things I really like about England are all the old houses and estates.
ReplyDeleteI hope your daughter is okay now.
Lovely pics of your trip to Skipton, looks a lovely place to visit.
ReplyDeleteClare's RR looks fab, a great start on Sampler Bouquets too.
Poor DD, i hope the chip isn't too deep and the dentist can help.
Skipton looks amaazing! What a lovely trip (except for the chipped tooth!). Love your WIP, it's beautiful on that linen.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see you out & about with your family enjoying the castle & the river! That is one thing we sure don't have here...no castles :) I keep saying, "one day!" but I think it is a long time off with all these kiddos :) So I will just have to enjoy those castles through your picures.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pictures, thank you very much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Tatyana
